How does the crusher work?
Cone crushers are widely used in the mining and aggregate industries to crush materials. They operate by compressing rock between a gyrating spindle and a concave hopper. Here's a basic overview of how cone crushers work:
Feed Hopper
Raw materials are fed into the crusher through a vibrating feeder or a grizzly feeder. The feeder distributes the material over the entire length of the crusher.
Cone Crusher Components
Mantle: The mantle is a moving part that gyrates in an eccentric motion, crushing the material against the concave.
Concave: The concave is a stationary outer shell that forms a conical chamber with the mantle. It provides a surface against which the material can be crushed.
Eccentric Assembly: The eccentric assembly is the mechanism that causes the mantle to gyrate. It consists of an eccentric shaft and a bushing.
Adjustment Ring: The adjustment ring allows for changes to the size of the discharge opening. It is used to control the size of the crushed material.
Hydraulic System: The hydraulic system is used to adjust the crusher settings and provide overload protection. It allows for quick and easy adjustments and releases the crushing chamber in case of uncrushable materials.
Crushing Process
Feeding: Material is fed into the top of the cone crusher and falls into the crushing chamber.
Compression: As the eccentric assembly rotates, the mantle moves in an eccentric path, creating a crushing action. The material is compressed between the mantle and the concave, causing it to break into smaller pieces.
Discharge: The crushed material is discharged through the bottom of the crusher. The size of the discharge opening determines the size of the crushed material and can be adjusted using the hydraulic system.
Circulation: In some configurations, the crushed material may be recirculated back into the crusher for further reduction until it reaches the desired size.
Cone crushers are efficient for secondary, tertiary, and quaternary crushing stages, handling a variety of materials and producing uniform-sized aggregates for various applications.
