HPPA 40 Year Anniversary

The Rotary Screen is convenient for small screening requirements. It is a centre shaft type screen with 2.5 to 3 shaft in the center of a 2.5′ or 3′ dia drum. The shell of the drum is made out of a sheet or woven screen which is perforated with holes for easy flow of screened output. A number of star wheels are provided to hold the shell with the center shaft. Both ends of the shaft are supported by bearing blocks and with the help of gear pinion, small pinion and driving pulley. The screen can rotate with any desired R.P.M.

Working

How does the crusher work?

Rotary screens, also known as trommel screens, are commonly used in mining, aggregate, and waste processing industries to separate materials by size. They operate by rotating a cylindrical drum with various screen apertures. Here's a basic overview of how rotary screens work -

Feed Hopper: Raw materials are fed into the rotary screen through a conveyor or hopper. The hopper distributes the material into the rotating drum.

Rotary Screen Components:

  • Cylindrical Drum: The cylindrical drum is the main component of the rotary screen. It is inclined and rotates about its axis. The drum is perforated with screen apertures of various sizes to separate materials.

  • Screen Apertures: The screen apertures are the openings in the cylindrical drum. They determine the size of the material that can pass through. Larger materials move along the length of the drum, while smaller particles fall through the apertures.

  • Drive Mechanism: The drive mechanism consists of an electric motor and a control panel that powers the rotation of the drum. The speed of rotation can be adjusted based on the material being processed.

  • Support Frame: The drum is supported by a sturdy frame, which is often mounted on a set of pneumatic wheels for mobility.

Separation Process:

  • Rotation: The cylindrical drum rotates at a set speed, causing the materials inside to tumble and mix.

  • Screening: As the drum rotates, smaller particles fall through the screen apertures, while larger particles move towards the discharge end of the drum.

  • Discharge: The separated materials are discharged from different points of the drum. Smaller particles exit through the screen apertures and are collected below the drum, while larger particles exit at the end of the drum onto a conveyor belt.

FAQ

Questions about the crusher

How do I choose between a jaw crusher and a cone crusher for my plant?

The choice depends on the material type and size, as well as the desired output size. Jaw crushers are typically used for primary crushing of large rocks and ores, while cone crushers are used for secondary and tertiary crushing, providing finer output.
