How does the crusher work?

Mobile Crushing Plants are used in the mining and aggregate industries to crush materials on-site, providing a flexible and efficient means of processing. Here's a basic overview of how a mobile crushing plant fitted with a jaw crusher operates:

Feed Hopper:

Raw materials are loaded into the 15 m³ capacity hopper. The hopper ensures a continuous feed of material to the crusher, facilitated by a vibrating grizzly feeder. The feeder not only distributes the material evenly but also screens out smaller particles before they enter the jaw crusher.


Jaw Crusher Components:
  • Movable Jaw:

    The movable jaw is mounted on a swinging lever connected to an eccentric shaft. This shaft, powered by an electric motor, rotates and moves the jaw up and down. As the jaw moves, it creates a compressive force that crushes the material against the fixed jaw.

  • Fixed Jaw:

    The fixed jaw is stationary and serves as the opposing surface to the movable jaw. The space between the fixed and movable jaws narrows as the movable jaw approaches, crushing the material.

  • Toggle Plate:

    The toggle plate transmits power from the motor to the movable jaw and serves as a safety mechanism. It helps protect the crusher from overloading and allows adjustments to the size of the discharge opening.


Crushing Process:
  1. Eccentric Shaft Rotation: The electric motor drives the eccentric shaft, causing the movable jaw to oscillate up and down.

  2. Compression: As the movable jaw moves closer to the fixed jaw, material is crushed between the two jaws.

  3. Crushing: This repeated squeezing action reduces the size of the material until it can pass through the discharge opening.


Discharge:

The crushed material exits the jaw crusher through the bottom opening. It can either be collected directly into a bin or conveyed to the next processing stage by one or two conveyors of adequate lengths.


Supporting Components:
  • Electric Motor: Powers the crusher and other components.

  • Control Panel and Cable: Operates and monitors the entire plant, ensuring smooth and safe operation.

  • Chassis: The heavy-duty chassis with pneumatic wheels allows the plant to be towed by a truck horse to different sites, providing mobility and flexibility.

  • Diesel Generating Set: A suitable diesel generator set is required to supply power to the plant, especially in remote locations where electric power may not be available.


This setup allows for efficient on-site crushing of materials, reducing the need for transportation and streamlining the production process in mining and aggregate applications.
