Working

How does the crusher work?

Mobile Crushing Plants are used in the mining and aggregate industries to crush materials on-site, eliminating the need for transporting raw materials to a fixed crushing facility. Here's an overview of how a mobile crushing plant fitted with a jaw crusher and cone crusher works:

Feed Hopper

Raw materials are fed into the plant through a vibrating grizzly feeder that sits atop a hopper with a capacity of 15 M³. The feeder regulates the flow of material and ensures even distribution over the length of the crusher.

Jaw Crusher

Jaw crushers operate by compressing rock between a fixed and a moving jaw.

Components:
  • Movable Jaw: Attached to a swinging lever connected to an eccentric shaft. As the shaft rotates, the lever moves the movable jaw.

  • Fixed Jaw: Provides a stationary surface against which the material is crushed.

  • Toggle Plate: Transmits power and protects the crusher from overloads. It also adjusts the size of the discharge opening.

Crushing Process:
  1. Compression: The movable jaw moves up and down as the eccentric shaft rotates, creating a squeezing motion.

  2. Crushing: Material is crushed between the fixed and movable jaws as the space between them narrows.

  3. Discharge: Crushed material exits the jaw crusher through the bottom opening and falls onto a conveyor belt for further processing.

Cone Crusher

Cone crushers are used to crush materials into smaller, more uniform particles. They work on the principle of compressing materials between a rotating piece of steel and a stationary piece.

Components:
  • Mantle: The rotating piece that moves in an eccentric pattern.

  • Concave: The stationary piece that the mantle crushes the material against.

  • Eccentric Shaft: Drives the mantle's gyratory movement.

Crushing Process:
  1. Compression: The mantle rotates eccentrically, causing a compressive force against the concave.

  2. Crushing: Material is continuously crushed as it moves downward through the narrowing gap between the mantle and concave.

  3. Discharge: Once sufficiently reduced, the material exits through the bottom of the cone crusher and is transported by conveyors for further processing or storage.

Additional Components and Processes
  • Vibrating Grizzly Feeder: Helps to remove fines and smaller particles from the material before it enters the jaw crusher, improving efficiency and reducing wear.

  • Vibrating Screen (4 Deck): Separates crushed material into various size fractions as per client requirements. Each deck of the screen sorts particles of different sizes.

  • Conveyors: Transport material between different stages of the crushing process and to the stockpile areas. The plant has 7-9 conveyors of adequate lengths to ensure smooth material flow.

  • Electric Motor, Control Panel, and Cable: Power the plant and control various operations, ensuring precise and safe functioning.

  • Heavy Duty Chassis with Pneumatic Wheels: The plant is mounted on three heavy-duty chassis with pneumatic wheels, allowing it to be towed by a truck horse to different sites.

Power Supply

The plant requires a suitable diesel generating set to run all components. The generator provides the necessary power to operate the electric motors, control systems, and conveyors.

By incorporating these elements, the mobile crushing plant effectively crushes materials on-site, providing a flexible, efficient solution for mining and aggregate operations.

FAQ

Questions about the crusher

How do I choose between a jaw crusher and a cone crusher for my crushing plant?

The choice depends on the type and size of the feed material and the desired final product size. Jaw crushers are typically used for primary crushing to break down large rocks, while cone crushers are used for secondary or tertiary crushing to produce finer material.
