How does the crusher work?
Single roll coal crushers are commonly used in the mining and aggregate industries to crush materials. They operate by squeezing the material between a rotating roll and a fixed breaker plate. Here's a basic overview of how single roll coal crushers work:
Feed Hopper: Raw materials are fed into the crusher through a vibrating feeder or a grizzly feeder. The feeder distributes the material evenly onto the rotating roll.
Crusher Components:
Rotating Roll: The rotating roll or the crushing roll is driven by an electric motor through a set of belts or gears. It rotates towards the fixed breaker plate, exerting compressive force on the raw material.
Breaker Plate: The fixed breaker plate is positioned at a predetermined distance from the rotating roll. It serves as a rigid surface against which the material is crushed.
Crushing Process:
Material Feed: Raw material enters between the rotating roll and the fixed breaker plate.
Compression: As the rotating roll moves towards the fixed breaker plate, it compresses the material. The compressive force exerted by the roll crushes the material against the breaker plate.
Size Reduction: The gap between the rotating roll and the fixed breaker plate determines the size of the crushed material. Adjustable settings may control the gap to achieve the desired size reduction.
Discharge: The crushed material exits through the discharge opening at the bottom of the crusher. It can either drop directly onto a conveyor belt for transport or into a bin for further processing.
This process continues as the raw material is fed into the crusher, crushed between the rotating roll and the fixed breaker plate, and discharged as the desired size material.
